DIY "Boston Love" Bunting Flag Banner

15 August 2013

There is this beautiful exposed brick wall in the apartment that makes the entire unit look 10 times better!
I felt as though this beautiful wall needed a pop of color and some love, so I created several fun and seasonal bunt flag banners to decorate it with.

With that being said, let me introduce you to the current banner.

These were a ton of fun, and super easy to make!

First.
I printed the templates for all the letters from here, and then cut them all out.

Second.
I mounted each of the flags on a piece of card stock using double sided tape.
This helps to make the banner stronger.
Once it was mounted, I cut out a slightly larger flag.

Third.
Once everything was cut, pasted and mounted...
I took yards and yards of hemp and braided it all together.

Fourth.
I hung the hemp up, and attached the flags using mini wooden clothespins which I found at Walmart.

The reason I decided to just attach the flags using the clothespins opposed to just punching holes and stringing the hemp through is because I would like to use the flags and hemp for other themed banners, and this method made the whole switching them out process much easier!

I have many, many more flag bunt banners in the works and can't wait to share!

Myrtle Beach

11 August 2013

I hope everyone's Shark Week was fabulous last week!
We spent our shark week on the warm, sandy coast of Myrtle Beach.

L, myself and his family all met up in Myrtle Beach where we spent a week of relaxing on the beach soaking in the rays.

We traveled to Broadway at the Beach just about every night for dinner where we ate, shopped and walked around the fun festivities.

Took some walks on the beach and around the pier.

We went to Margaritaville for our last dinner in Myrtle and had a grand time watching them fill up the blender and sing.

Oh Myrtle, I will miss you!

Back to Boston I go... so much stuff to do and get done.

Five on Friday

02 August 2013

How is it Friday already?
This week flew!

As always, I will fill you in the hip hop happening Friday Five!

-ONE-
Yesterday was the day!
Packing up a whole van load of goods, trekked it to Boston, and then threw it all up 4 flights of stairs into a pint sized apartment.

How everything fit is beyond me.

My roommate is moving in tomorrow, so we will be reliving the whole moving process all over again tomorrow.

We don't have our internet and TV hooked up yet, so I am comfortably sitting in the cutest coffee shop (Boston Common Coffee Co.) updating you all.

-TWO-
Dad and I went up to Portsmouth a couple times this past week.
Friday night was pretty overcast, but we snatched up a beautiful view of a double rainbow and chowed down on some gelato!

Saturday Morning was much for enjoyable though! Look at the water!

-THREE-
My last day of work before I moved to Boston was on Tuesday. I seriously work for the best company!

-FOUR-
We have this fat as a cow frog who hangs by the pool.
He didn't use to be this HUGE!
He used to be all slimmed and normal sized, but he comes by everyday, sits on the makeshift lily pad we made for him, and eats up all the bugs.
I enjoy his company when swimming. He just sits there and watches you. Sometimes he gets in and swims with us as well. We have named this little fella Speedo, because once upon a time... he used to be fast. (:

-FIVE-
I got in a serious bunt sign banner mood this week.
I made banners for EVERYTHING. Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Boston, Fall.. you name it.. I made it. I will be posting DIY updates on them when they come in season. But for now, I will give you a little sneak peak into the Boston one I made. Once I finish it, and find the perfect spot for it in the apartment, I will share more!

Have a Happy Weekend!!
